We needed a continuation of the Happy thread.
I'll start off with some good things:
I just finished a massive amount of research for a work project I'm leading. So now it's off to the advisor a full week and a half before the unveiling date (it's taken over my life right now). Yay for being done early!
Tonight is a binge fest of classic TV shows for sure.

Awesome Ffurcadwgawn!
My living room is covered with toys and two happy grandkids playing. And I took yesterday off so I actually got some work done around the house while my kids were in school.

My 3 month old gave me the sweetest giggles this morning before I left for work. Today is my second day back from maternity leave, and yesterday he cried when I left so the giggles sure were a nice thing to have before leaving!

So, back during my first trimester with this baby, I had forgotten to eat breakfast before coming to work one day. Just as I started feeling the queasiness set in, some tenants brought me some breakfast and saved me from a day of misery. Nobody except close family knew at that time that I was expecting. Well, fast forward to today. It's my third day back to work after maternity leave. Once again, I forgot to have breakfast before work. So I'm working away, with a growling stomach and worrying how it will impact my milk supply. Well, here comes the same couple from before, carrying a big ol McDonald's breakfast platter and a coffee (I also only got about 30 mins of sleep last night because hubby let the baby sleep all day yesterday). Now of course they would have no way of knowing that I hadn't had breakfast or sleep. Yet here they come, bearing coffee and food just for me. It's uncanny how they somehow just know what I need when I need it. I sure am thankful for them.

30 minutes sleep?! I'd be walking around with a caffeine IV!

Shane, if only! Unfortunately that presents a catch 22. If I overload on the caffeine just to make it through the day, then the baby gets an overload on caffeine that night, and then guess who doesnt sleep again? Yeah, I knew I was going to regret that fifth cup of coffee later. Oops. Well, 3.5 hours in 24 hours isn't so bad....right? Or maybe I've just completely lost my marbles.... JD, it sure seems like it!

Well, 3.5 hours in 24 hours isn't so bad....right? Or maybe I've just completely lost my marbles.... You can get away with the odd stretch like that, especially when you're still fairly young (providing you don't have any health issues). I used to work as a PLC programmer, and the hours on that job could be very long. Once, another programmer and I spent a public holiday programming one stretch of an assembly line in a car factory. We started at 9 am and got out just after 3 am the next morning. I had to be back on site at 6 am, and decided against getting some sleep because I knew I'd wake up feeling really zonked. By the time I finally turned in the following night, I'd been up for 40 hours. That was in 2004. I was 30 at the time, and even then it was pretty draining. I really wouldn't want to attempt it now in middle age.

Yikes. I wouldn't want to try that at any point in my life lol. I barely made it through yesterday and last night, and now I have to work again today. Bleh.

My homeschooled daughter finished all of her schoolwork and her chores without being asked, and all by noon. I'm impressed with her motivation today!

Last week, (Superbowl Sunday), my kids had gone with my parents that day, and on their way to their house, the 5 year old decided he needed to go potty and just couldn't wait. So they stopped at a gas station located roughly halfway between our house and theirs, only to be told it was closed, no reason given. Well, the next day we saw a news report, and it all made sense as to why the gas station was randomly closed. Turns out, there had been a shooting there, just mere minutes before my parents and kids had arrived there. They literally just missed it, and I'm so thankful they did!
