Watched the Academy Awards for about two minutes. It was embarrassing and got boring very quickly so I turned it off.
I didn't watch last year until the very end when I turned on the TV just in time to see them announce the wrong winner, so I was pretty happy about that.
Did anything go horribly wrong this year? Anything I should look for on YouTube?

Didn't watch; haven't watched it in years. I read that Rita Moreno wore the same dress she wore in 1962. I'm so impressed that it still fits!

I only ever watch the red carpet reviews! There was lots of good fashion this year - much better than the past few.

Yeah, I didn't know either. But I saw something in the news online and realized it was already on. I thought I should make an effort to watch. Like in the old days when my family would inexplicably sit through the Miss America Pageant or any telethon that happened to be on. We all gathered around the TV for a special two-part episode of Bonanza for some reason. There were only five or six channels back then which must have played some role in that.
Someone noted that 86-year-old Rita Moreno was effortlessly striding around in high heeled platform shoes. I wonder what kind of shape Russ Tamblyn's in these days.
I should probably stick to the red carpet stuff at the beginning, too. I heard that Ryan Seacrest had trouble getting people to talk to him.

I saw that Call Me By Your Name, The Shape of Water, Get Out, and Coco picked up awards. Those were my favorite movies of the year. I wish Timothee Chalamet had won best actor for Call Me By Your Name!

I googled Call Me By Your Name. You know they considered Shia LaBeouf, I assume for Armie Hammer's role? Man, I hate Shia LaBeouf. He would have been in it but the production company put their foot down. They didn't want him lousing it up. A wise move considering what he did on his last movie.
Made for $3.5 million, the cost of an hour-long TV episode in the United States which I find rather impressive. They get a lot more for their money in Europe.

Ewww, Shia LaBeouf woulda been pretty weird in it. I can't imagine him for Armie Hammer's role... but I also can't imagine him for Timothee Chalamet's role, either! LOL!
Scott, did you see Shape of Water?
Also, I read that Jordan Peele is planning a sequel of sorts to Get Out. Not really a sequel, per se, but a second people of color in America reality-horror movie.

I can't stand Shia LaBeouf. Only thing I've seen him in was Nymphomaniac and I didn't see what the big deal was.
I haven't seen The Shape of Water. Haven't dragged myself to a movie theater in years. I learned that they're all digital now. I should go just to see that.
When The Shape of Water appears on Netflix, it might make a good double feature with the episode of The Beverly Hillbillies where Elly May was dating a Navy frogman. Granny was horrified because she had only seen him in his wetsuit and thought Elly May was romantically involved with a literal frog-man.
I want to see Get Out. They're talking about a sequel to Call Me By Your Name, too.
I recently watched Parting Glances for the first time in 30 years. I had seen it when they showed it at the university in the '80s. I don't think I realized back then that the characters were such yuppies. Steve Buscemi's first major role, and one of the first movies to deal with AIDS. Made in '84, released in '86. Call Me By Your Name was set in '83 but based on a novel set on '87.
Parting Glances I think is available on Fandor,
Sorry I'm slow responding.
