Never thought I'd do it, but I made a pretty good meatloaf. They say you should stick your hands in there to mix the ingredients, but I wasn't going to do that, but it came out well enough.

Good for you, Scott! I agree, I wouldn't mix it with my hands either. A kitchen fork works just as well!

I always use my hands for mixing meatloaf and meatballs. That’s the way my mom always did it too.

I made one last night... I always use my hands as well. What do they say on the cooking channel? They’re the best kitchen tools you’ll ever have!

It was a real milestone for me.
I watched a video on YouTube from a cooking show where they said to use your hands. But I try not to touch anything after touching raw meat, and how do you wash your hands without touching anything? You have to turn on the water and I'd probably use some dish detergent.
But it would have given me a greater sense of achievement. I'd feel like a caveman.

I don't care what the cooking shows say; I'm not digging around in raw ground beef and eggs and tomato sauce!

I've only made one meatloaf by hand and I used my hands to do it... I promise my hands were very thoroughly washed (and if we were having company I would have used plastic gloves) I'm not coordinated enough to mix with forks. Hmm... now I should contemplate meatloaf with ground turkey breast... something new for the family!
