I watched this movie. Sort of a sex movie directed by John Huston, starring Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. Marlon Brando is an Army officer who does a lot of horse back riding. One of the enlisted men rides horses, too, but does so naked. Then he starts breaking into Marlon Brando's house so he can gaze at his wife, Elizabeth Taylor, while she sleeps (she and her husband have separate bedrooms.)
Between the mumbling and the phony Southern accent, much of Brando's dialog was unintelligible.
The weird thing to me is that Brian Kieth was one of the stars of this thing--he got third billing after Brando and Taylor--and he was starring in Family Affair at the time.

I had to read the book in some class or other, and despised it, so I definitely wouldn't have watched a movie of it!

I've never read anything by Carson McCullers. Seems like we used to have a copy of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter around here somewhere.
