I loved the Smokey & the Bandit movies, at least the first couple. I remember even watching him when he was QUITE young, on Gunsmoke!

Yeah. It's difficult to realize that some of the actors we grew up with are now quite elderly!

He was much older than I expected! I thought he was my Dad’s age or younger. I have fond childhood memories of Bandit and Cannonball Run. Recently we watched City Heat, with him & Clint Eastwood. It’s a noir-style crime drama, was good!

I think my sister had a crush on him about 45 years ago. She would watch re-runs of Dan August and enthuse over him doing his own stunts. It didn't seem like her sort of movie, but she and my brother and I went to see White Lightning at the drive-in. They showed Fuzz as a second feature but I slept through it. He was in a movie last year called The Last Movie Star. He plays an elderly star much like himself who is invited to receive a lifetime achievement award at a film festival. It turns out that the "film festival" is in a bar and he was the first star to show up at it. It was kind of depressing. Looking at imdb.com, he's been appearing in a lot of things just in the last few years so he was far more active than the washed up actor he played. I didn't realize Gator was a sequel to White Lightning. I would have seen it if I had known.
He was in Michael Shayne episode on the 1961.

I watched Gator. Was a little disappointed. The speedboat chase through the swamp was in the beginning and had little to do with the plot. Jerry Reed kept laughing and laughing. I wanted Burt to hurry up and kill him.
Then watched The Longest Yard. I find prison movies depressing and I've never gone for sports movies. Eddie Albert played the sadistic warden just a few years after Green Acres.
I want to find Semi-Tough, The End and Nickelodeon on streaming video.

My neighbor just came to the door walking the kids around for Halloween. I didn't recognize him for a minute in his cowboy hat and fake mustache. It was only after he left that I realized he was dressed as Burt Reynolds.
