I heard this strange noise outside. Sounded like an animal in distress. I went outside and looked around. It was a turkey walking around on the roof of the neighbor's garage.
"How did you get up there?" I asked it.
It jumped off and flew across the street.
It knew what it was doing.

I remember driving in the country a few years ago, when suddenly it got very dark overhead. I looked up and these giant... THINGS... were flying above! Turns out they were wild turkeys!!! Looked so weird. They're too round to look like they could fly.
There's a pelican that occasionally lands on my parents' roof. He looks weird flying too.

Nothing so exotic as pelicans here, the best we do is occasionally have a flock of seagulls turn up. We're far enough inland that this is an unusual sight; they generally arrive in time for bad weather to hit. No turkeys, but we do get Canada geese passing by now and again. There's also a couple families of bald eagles living in the general vicinity, so it's not too unusual to see one of those now and again. The wingspan is unmistakable.

The sky being darkened by huge flocks of flying turkeys...it sounds nightmarish! My impression was that the one I saw couldn't make it more than a few feet off the ground although it did make it onto the roof.
