I tried to turn on The Simpsons. Instead got something called Rent. I assumed it was a new sit-com based on the musical, but I was wrong. Didn't watch it in any case.
Didn't hear anything about it. Not like those other things they hyped for some time. Remember the fierce debate about whether Justin Bieber should play Nazi teen Rolf in The Sound of Music Live?

Turns out it wasn't all live. A lot of it was on tape from rehearsals. They had to do it because one of the actors broke his foot just before the show and they had no understudies. I thought they needed SEVERAL understudies for Peter Pan with the dangerous flying stunts they did live on stage. Was there any dancing on that? Because that's why they didn't want any for Rent---they didn't want everyone to have to learn all the dancing. They're cost-conscious.

If it was the guy who had to wear the sky-high boots and jump on and off steps, tables, etc., I'm not surprised he broke his foot. I haven't actually seen it, but I knew two people who acted in a community theater performance of it, and I remember complaints about the boots.

Acting is dangerous. It's amazing how many are seriously injured. I wondered about all the unpaid actors. I doubt any of them do it, but it turns out you can get Workmans Comp for unpaid volunteers. Might be a good idea for community theater actors who have to do their own stunts.
