"I've forgotten so many things and yet, the "B.J. and the Bear" theme sits in my head, laying dormant and intact, ready to uncoil inexplicably at any moment."
---Josh Elvis Weinstein
I think it should be "lying dormant".

I can relate! I have many, many random theme songs stored in my mind!!! Last week I sang Raven the theme to Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, which I haven't seen in around 15 years. Anytime I forget something important, I assume my brain tried to save it in the area reserved for theme songs and there just wasn't any space left...

Anytime I forget something important, I assume my brain tried to save it in the area reserved for theme songs and there just wasn't any space left... I have no idea how long it's been since I've seen that show but, now that I've read your post, the theme is stuck on my mental jukebox. A few months ago, I was browsing in a gaming shop when the theme song for Adventures of the Gummi Bears started playing out of the blue. Last thing I expected to hear. The guy behind the counter was playing it on his phone. I watched the show when I was a kid in primary school, but this guy must have been at least 20 years younger than me. Seems it's not only us older folk who like older shows.

Man, I haven't heard of their of those shows. I'm so out of touch.
BJ and the Bear had a Hardy Boys connection, by the way. The author of the theme to BJ and the Bear also wrote the theme to the '70s Hardy Boys series. And he was the "creator" of the show. And he was a writer on the show. A real renaissance man.
And I haven't found a credible source of information about this, but one of the several apes that played Bear on the show may have been involved in a horrifying attack on a guy.
The chimp never really played a role in any of the episodes, did he? Greg Evigan was risking his life sitting next to that prehistoric monster and it was entirely unnecessary to the plot.
