I don't know how many parents have been arrested in this thing. I don't know if they've taken everyone's passport, but there must be lots of foreign countries that wouldn't extradite you for pretending that your ne'er-do-well children were college athletes.
They're targeting Lori Loughlin just for being cheerful and polite. She signs autographs outside the courthouse and she said hello to the prosecutors which infuriated them for some reason.

You know what I think is a weird coincidence in the college admissions scandal? It's that the two actresses involved, Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin both have common last names with slightly unusual spellings. Hoffman and Laughlin is how they're usually spelled. You think this played any role in their turn to criminality? Anyway, Huffman has pleaded guilty. Prosecutors want her to get four months in jail. Loughlin refuses to give in and people think she and her husband could win in court. USC recently put up posters to recruit people for the women's rowing team. The posters say "NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY". Prosecutors have tried to claim that the fact that her daughters got in because the coach wanted them for the rowing team when they had no rowing team experience was proof of fraud---well, you don't need rowing team experience. I don't know it should be against the law to fool a private university--a private corporation--into taking your money.
Prosecutors are outraged at Loughlin because she's cheerful and polite. She signed autographs for fans who spoke to her outside the courthouse and she said hello to prosecutors she had talked to before. This infuriated them for some reason.
Do you think the prosecutors are rich boys who are outraged at the very thought of mere nouveau riche got into their exclusive universities? Or are they poor boys who are still mad at the wealthy snobs who looked down on them because they had to work their way through law school?

I haven't tried to analyze the prosecutors.

Perhaps ironically, Felicity Huffman played vile racist prosecutor Linda Fairstein who railroaded the teenage boys in the Central Park Jogger case in the Netflix series When They See Us. So she tried giving some insight into what was wrong with her.
