I watched Pasolini's Oedipus Rex yesterday. The play was first performed in 439 B.C. The Center for Disease Control analyzed the play and found that the plague in it was the same as one that struck Athens around that time and determined that it was almost certainly a zoonotic pathogen. So it has a COVID-19 tie-in.
Filmed mostly in Morocco. Had great locations. But I don't think Greece is a big giant desert.

I've never seen it, but that's funny about the filming location. I guess in the movie biz, the same slogan can apply as in real estate: "Location, location, location."

In the play, Oedipus bans religious gatherings for the duration of the epidemic. It was 439 B.C. and they were more on the ball than that idiot Kirk Cameron.
