Hello! Long time no post. How is everyone?? Apparently there's a new HB show starting on Hulu next month! I didn't know anything about it until I saw a trailer on Facebook earlier It looks less bad than I expected after reading that the boys are 16 and 12, but I still wish we could have a straightforward modernization Then again... maybe having a bigger age difference would make their relationship more authentic? I might be confusing the books with fanfiction (and I speak as an only child) but I feel like 16 year old Frank is generally much more caring towards his 15 year old brother than they would be in real life However, I do get that they were written to be the same age so they could do the same things... as long as there's no "Joe's too young to join in" nonsense, I can possibly live with this change... www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlsk0yBIimcEdited to add: Yes, I did notice Bridgeport instead of Bayport... but I think Bridgeport is another town mentioned in the books? So not a huuuge change, like if it was set in New York or something?

That's exciting! Although I'm not sure how to feel about the change in ages.

It is! The ages was the main thing that made me say "what??" but I'm kind of excited It sounds like a closer adaptation than the Nancy Drew series, at least. Also funny that this should come up just when I've been thinking about watching the 90s show... I've only ever seen a couple of episodes...

This way Joe will still be in high school six years from now.
In three years, Joe will be 15, Frank 19. In five years they'll be 17 and 21. It may be a way to keep the series going longer without having them both as college graduates.

Ooh. Good point! Let's hope it lasts long enough to find out if you're right

That's a good point, Scott! I hope it does well enough to go that long!

Well I've watched the first 2 episodes. So far it's pretty interesting. Has anyone else seen any yet?

Knowing me, I'll forget about it on and off until I finally get around to it sometime next year. It's a very bad habit I did remember to do a quick search and the reviews seem positive, so hopeful yay.

I would definitely recommend putting on your priority "to watch" list! It's been pretty good so far, if you can get past the younger ages/larger age gap, the different town name, and the fact that Biff is now a girl who got her nickname of Biff from the first day of kindergarten when she couldn't say her own name right. She's also Joe's age now. Oh, and Chet is rather slim, which bothers me a little because of how much I enjoyed the chubby, food-loving version from the books. He also doesn't seem to have a sister named Iola, possibly because no one really knows for sure how to pronounce it and so the writers decided to give up. đŸ˜† Anyway, all that aside, it's still pretty good.

Oh, is that all? Aww, Chet was always my favourite too. Hopefully he'll still at least have lots of hobbies. They were helpful! They'd add comedy! The Biff change is weird, but I guess understandable for more boy/girl balance? Because it totally makes more sense to change a boy into a girl rather than figure out how to pronounce the girl's name... đŸ˜†

Probably so! Since they took out a girl character, I can see the need to add another one in, and it makes sense to borrow from the gender with the most members. We don't know a whole lot about Chet just yet, but I'm hoping for the numerous hobbies as well!

Random question… I loved the Hulu Hardy Boys. However, I can not find ANY fanfic for it which I found strange. Does anyone here know of any or how to find it? Thanks!

I don't have Hulu but if they ever have another free time I'll look for this one.
Wigged out about the changes (you should've seen my colossal tantrum when they made the new Battlestar Galactica (that one with the female Starbuck... don't get me started!). Not sure why they want such disparate ages between the two boys...

Well, it's been almost a year since I said: And I still haven't watched it. At least I know myself? The ages really is the weirdest change. And is possibly subconsciously why I haven't rushed to watch it. But I have only heard good things about the show, so I'm hopeful I'll enjoy it when I get to it

Having just watched the first episode of Superman & Lois - those are the boys we needed for Frank and Joe Okay, the darker haired one looks (or is) younger, but still:

Not a bad choice. It did take me a while to get past the different ages, but as I learn to appreciate as a separate entity from the books, I enjoy it more. My daughter has been watching it with me on my second round of watching and she's enjoying it as well.

Superman and Lois?
Is this on Hulu too? Must they thwart me continously? LOL!

They don't seem to care that there aren't enough hours in the day to watch all these shows...

I just don't have Hulu... I have almost everything else though! I love Hulu, so much more than Netflix. The only benefit Netflix has is Supernatutal, but I own most the seasons on Amazon, so it's ok. My husband busy me 3-4 seasons every occasion (birthday, mother's day, Christmas, etc).
