Well, my clunky but reliable old Webhost decided they were going to do some radical move or other...they gave us the option to back up our sites and transfer them over to wherever they were going, but the tutorials for that procedure were the most disorganized bunch of gibberish I've seen in a long time. And they glibly sailed past the part where the transfer would break all our links anyway! So I reckoned that as long as I was going to have to re-link everything, I might just as well seek out a less cumbersome provider. I've landed at x10, and I am liking it very well; it's so user-friendly, intuitive and straightforward that it's only taken me about an hour to upload and re-link everything. And with all that explanation out of the way, it is currently at SW's HB Fanfic Just ignore the 'back' and 'home' links at the bottom of each part for now, I have yet to strip-and-replace those. :sigh:

That's a cool format for your stories. Are there other stories over there? Are you planning on moving any to fanfiction?

Your stuff is amazing, Stormwatcher. You would get a lot more views on FFN, that's for sure.

Not if Fanfiction.net doesn't fix their problem with posting update notifications, she wouldn't! No one would know there was anything new.

Thanks, Katie! I have thought about FFNet, but I honestly hesitate to put stuff there for two reasons. The practical one is, I hear so much about formatting problems and things breaking (like the notifications, I gather) and restrictions on basic stuff like page dividers, that it kinda turns me off. Obviously one can't have such a big and complex site without bugs and breakdowns, and restrictions too, but it sounds fairly frustrating. The other reason's an old grudge: one of my friends got banned after a group who had the moderator's ear deliberately laid a bunch of false accusations against him. The mod didn't even investigate, just took their word, pulled everything down, and shut off the account. Granted that things have probably changed since then- it was a long time ago- but steering clear has become a habit. And since I'm not writing HB stuff just now, lack of exposure's fine.

Have you looked into A03? That would hold a lot of different fandom's.

So I've done some posting lately, at stormwatcher.x10host.com/hb/series.htm This is all in the Best Friends series, and three of them are surprisingly long; Frank and Joe at 10-11 and 11-12 are quite the chatterboxes and they assure me they aren't done yet.

Doing a website scrub before I head off on vacation next weekend- alas, my poor links page! Gutted! Gutted I say!- and I've added a new section to the main area titled 'Excerpts', which is of course bits I've pulled out from this book and that and expanded on. Or trimmed down. Or summarized. Like, 'Brother Against Brother: The Return Home', only a bit less so. Also there's a new bit in the Info area, some interesting tidbits I've picked up from 'The Mysterious Case of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys'. Books about as large as the title suggests, but it is a nice look at the popularity of the two series and the Syndicate. Hopefully soon after I get back, I'll be ready to post Treasures and Tribulations in the Best Friends, but probably not the one after that. It's being long (big surprise there) I guess this would help Bayport Flea Market

It's nice that you're still doing something with the stories, Stormie! Enjoy your vacation; I hope it's to somewhere cooler than where you currently are!

Thank you! Myrtle Beach is where we're headed. : D So even if it is still hot, I'll have a whole ocean to cool off in. Just keeping an eye on tropical weather formations; we do not want any of that rolling in.

Added a new story to the Best Friends section: Treasures and Tribulations. stormwatcher.x10host.com/hb/hbindex.htm under Series. School is out again for the summer, and the boys and their friends are all up for whatever adventures may come along- or so they think. Meanwhile, Fenton and the Bayport police are trying to get to the bottom of Dan Craughton's criminal activities that ended so tragically in May... More to come soon; sixth grade is turning out to be a very eventful year for the boys and their friends.

:SIGH: X10-the-reliable apparently decided to stop using cPanel as their file manager for some financial reason- without actually letting most of their users in on the decision. Par for the course... So they've migrated over to another system. Migrations of this sort usually don't end well, and this one is no exception, if the maintenance forums are any kind of indicator. On the positive side, my Bayport Flea Market is still up and can be viewed; on the downside, I can't update it. So, I've mirror-linked everything to a home on Google websites sites.google.com/view/swsanctuary/home and if x10 continues to be as clunky, balky and click-intensive as it is currently, I may just stick with Google for the future. It's simplistic and lacks some of the customization options of a real site-host, but it's very intuitive and easy to use and hopefully it'll be able to handle my enormous chunks of story-text! I'm also looking into finally getting all my Hardy-pics back up at Google Photos, formerly Picasa. Now I just have to decide what to do about my poor old Ronin site... Well, one thing at a time.

Thanks! I've been websiting since the days of Geocities and Xoom (that goes back a bit, doesn't it!) and I've gradually become resigned to the one single certainty in the life of a webmaster: sooner or later, you WILL be making another move to another provider. On the plus side, Google's being most cooperative, which is something I haven't always been able to say.

Glad Google is working out so well for you so far!

Well, on the plus side, I'm managing to navigate this new file manager X10 has provided users with. On the minus, it's scrolly, clunky and click/paste/edit-intensive and I sorely miss old reliable c-panel! That said, stormwatcher.x10host.com/hb/series.htm has three new (short, for me) stories up, further adventures of the Best Friends. Sixth grade is proving quite eventful for the Boys and co, and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Starting to think these kiddos need their own separate page, hmmm...

Read your stories ages ago, back when geocities was still a thing. Was ecstatic to find them again, but there are a couple flaws on your hosting site. I haven't tried every story, but 'Most Precious Gift', every section is linked to the first section, and 'Second Chances' just leads to a 404 error. I've read 'Most Precious Gift' and it's still available on an old site with Moonshower. Is there anywhere I can read 'Second Chances'? I've not seen that one yet.

Hey, Annie, sorry for the long delay, and thanks for the heads up. I just checked on the links and they should be working properly now. It's been so long since I webpaged anything, I felt like a novice again; I should remedy that!

I was super excited to see your message, but when I went to check it out, the links still don't work for me. I'm using Chrome if that makes any difference.

It works! I want to read it now, but it's 1 in the morning. Smart response would be to wait.
I wonder if I will.

So the links for 'Most Precious Gift' and 'Second Chances' now work on the website. Thank you, I was glad to read that. It helped fill in several details for me. But it looks like you've posted some new stuff that seems to be inaccessible. 'In Loco Parentis', all the links go to 404 message and the other two don't have links at all. I'm sorry to be constantly telling you of tech issues, but I promise it's just because I love your stories so much and want to read them all.
