I just posted a one-shot called "Altered Plans" on fanfiction. I will be posting my new longer story called "The Stages of Conviction", the sequel to "The Secret Spaces", at the start of June. Quick shout-out: Laurie just posted "Coming of Age" as well in all its fabulousness!

I WAS on quite a spree, and it's been fun homing my writing skills. I think I may have it in me to tell another story in my universe, but I'm not sure. You never know what will resonate with readers. My one shot barely got any reviews and I'm trying to fight the "Why bother" blues that so many authors, myself included, face!
For the time being, I'm allowing myself time to read. It's something I've missed as I focused on writing.

If it means anything, we're very grateful you bothered. I know those blues at times, but I really enjoy reading your work. Thanks for sharing it!

Yeah, don't let those blues get to you too long, Cheryl - it's hard to shake 'em when they set in .

I think we all do, JD. While it takes awhile to leave a detailed review, it literally takes a minute or two to leave a a brief one. I don't understand why people don't do it. *shrugs* It explains why people don't write, though. I have known some amazing authors who get virtually no feedback and have decided to just stop. In any case, your stories are wonderful!!!! Love them.

I have experienced that 'why bother?' feeling sometimes myself, but for me it's never been 'why bother writing?'. My 'why bother' is more of the, 'Well, if no one's going to say anything, I guess I might as well not post anymore' variety. I love writing, and I'm almost always writing something; reviews and feedback are fantastic perks and I'm always grateful to get them, but for me the best part is the journey I get to go on when I'm pulling everything out of my mind and onto the screen.
My big problem is, I distract way too easily. If I'm writing something and stop to read something unrelated, or someone else's version of it, I get derailed and then have to try to pick up my own train of thought again, often without success. Apparently my internal storyteller doesn't do multitasking. :/ So I have to be very single-minded and kinda tunnel-vision whatever I've got going.

In any case, your stories are wonderful!!!! Love them. My pet peeve with FF.net reviewing is that I can't QUOTE anything! The way I go through a story or a chapter of a story is to read along, find something I want to comment on, and quote it in the review and then say something relating to it. When I can't do that -- as FF.net doesn't allow copy-and-paste -- I can't comment as I go along, and when I reach the end of the story/chapter it's way, way too difficult to go back, find the places I want to comment on, re-type them out and make my remarks. So I end up not reviewing things at all. Apologies to Laurie and Cheryl and anyone else from 'over here' that's now posting 'over there.' It's not much of an excuse, I know.

For me that not a problem since I never knew how to copy and paste anyway at HDA! See? Being bad at technology served me well here. I just remember things very well and read closely all the time (I have a kind of photographic memory- little known Cheryl fact) and, when I can, I review on a desktop or Chromebook because then I can scroll through the chapter again to be even more specific. Even an "I'm enjoying the story" comment, as some guests leave, can be a little pick me up.
