Huh. When I first asked about Zeus, I was kidding around with a Magnum P.I. reference. When I heard your sister-in-law had a dog called Zeus, I thought they'd been named after the two Dobermans on the show. If I had a couple of Dobermans, they'd definitely be called Zeus and Apollo.

Lol I've never even watched the show. My husband is obsessed with mythology though, thus Apollo's name. Also why I said it was ironic that Zeus (the dog) was younger than Apollo (the dog). According to the Greek mythology, Zeus was Apollo's dad. ๐

I read quite a bit about Greek mythology when I was in high school. My interest was piqued by an English assignment, where we each had to do a presentation on one topic in Greek mythology. Mine was the causes of the Trojan War. I find the Odyssey more interesting than the Iliad. At that time I found a book on Greek mythology at a second-hand bookshop. Turns out it was printed in 1912, making it by far the oldest book I've ever bought. As far as Apollo being Zeus's son goes, it's usually easier to list all the gods who weren't Zeus's kids.

That's cool! My mom runs a used bookstore online so I've seen my fair share of very old books. I used to help her with it when I was a teenager and had the time. I loved all the variety of books in the inventory, especially the antiques. I got very little pay for helping her, as I spent most of it on buying so much of the inventory lol. That is true about Zeus, but one thing is for sure: he's older than all his kids lol. I had to laugh when I heard what she named her puppy.

Years ago, I read a book titled A Gentle Madness which dealt with the subject of obsessive enthusiastic book collectors. There were some interesting stories there, most notably that of the book thief Stephen Blumberg, who was a one-man Ocean's Eleven when it came to "acquiring" rare books. It was mind-boggling to see how large some private collections became.

I was really not cut out for the book sales business, I had too hard of a time letting them go! ๐

I was really not cut out for the book sales business, I had too hard of a time letting them go! ๐ Most of the collectors mentioned in the book were bibliophiles rather than bibliomaniacs, and their collections were obtained legitimately. Blumberg was the only exception I can remember. Wish I had the book close to hand at the moment. By the way, if you think you had trouble letting go of books Mamabear, bear in mind that some of these collectors couldn't even do that posthumously. They bequeathed their collections to various institutions on the condition that they remained intact. They couldn't stand the thought of their books being dispersed.

I'm one step short of that lol. I definitely want my collection to stay in the family, but I don't mind if different books go to different family members.

I just realized we've had her for over a year now and I'm not sure I remembered to share a picture! Here's Artemis, our latest rescue. She's 2.5 and is a cattle dog mix. She came from the reservation down south of us and had been abused and neglected. We just couldn't resist her. โบ
