Hey folks. just popping in a for a bit during a semi-coherent moment -- the warning got sounded on another board I'm on-again-off-again part of:
----
"Last week-ish, Photobucket changed its terms of use without advance notice, and in doing so has screwed over a LOT of people. What basically happened is, it appears that paid accounts and ads are no longer enough for them, so they have opted to lock down third-party hosting for ALL tiers of accounts save the highest-costing one. In addition, some people are discovering that they are locked out of their own photos and are unable to download them unless they upgrade to the Plus 500 account.
Said account will run you $400 per year. The full amount of which must be paid up front.
Needless to say, this is completely unacceptable for a multitude of reasons. To all who use them to host images: abandon ship immediately. Grab whatever pictures you can, while you still can, and move to a new image host immediately. This will break all of your images - though they are already broken - so you will need to edit your entries and update the links, but...there is little else to be done at this point. I recommend Imgur, as that is what I have moved to, but there are others, like DeviantArt, Instagram, Flickr, whichever, all that is clear is that Photobucket is effectively unusable to anyone who isn't willing to submit to what is essentially blackmail for nearly half a grand a year."
-------
(warning copy/pasted from Silais of the Das-Sporking board). And be warned: Photobucket's ads have gotten tons worse. Make sure you have ad-blocking turned on, or you'll never get anything done.
