So last night my dad's blood pressure went berserk so I had to take him to the E.R. at one of the local hospitals. I got him there sometime after midnight - I got home at 6:30 am. (his blood pressure is back to normal today, go figure). I've been doing a lot of walking on my bid to lose weight - but the last week my right ankle/foot have been killing me. So I went to see my doctor today to have it checked out. One thing that went RIGHT was that I was able to get right in (and I mean almost literally - usually if you walk-in it can take hours!). They did x-rays (the clinic is next door to a lab and imaging center) and my PA and the doctor took a look and told me all that ankle problem is caused because I have flat feet. Gee, I've had flat feet since I was, you know, born... So now I get to go see a podiatrist. I'm pooped and now I'm off to bed.

So glad to hear your Dad is doing better! That's scary!
I have the exact opposite problem Rokia, I have really high arches. I have to make sure I change out my running shoes regularly (every 4 months or so) or I get shin splints. Are they going to give you orthotics?

I think I'm hoping that's what they do Alaina - whatever it takes to get my feet back into shape so I can continue doing walking-for-exercise and continuing to lose weight. (I explained to my ankle earlier today that it had about two more days to get over itself, then I am going walking anyway! Hahahaha)
When I worked at the shoe store I tried to help people who had high arches -- there are as few shoes for high-arch types as there are for flat feet types... Pumas can be somewhat high-arched... a few (but nowhere near all) Nikes... can't remember what else.
I'll let you know what I end up with after I see the podiatrist.

@rokia have you tried any water exercising? I know they say that is good for people with any type of walking/leg issues. I know I would personally exhaust myself after 15 minutes in the pool.

If there was a decent place to do it and it didn't cost too much I would... but right now... not much of an option

Nike is usually my brand of choice for running shoes. I found a style of Nike running shoe that I loved so of course they changed it! When I bought my new running shoes a month or so ago I tried Asics. They're pretty comfortable, so now I have two brands that seem to work well.

My dad swears by Asics - back when he used to run all the time he bought a 29 pair dollar of Asics and a 29 dollar insert and he said that was the best running shoe he ever used. I'm a long way from doing ANY running... but walking better would be great!

My latest was 'why am I getting DNS errors on every website with every browser? That's just not how dns errors are supposed to work! So after some reading (on my tablet!) I figured out I needed to restart my DNS client. Voila. Now I can surf the web again!

Yeah... especially when it worked just fine the night before. Always amazes me, when I hadn't turned it off, that it just ups and pulls something hare-brained like that. Still, I have learned a new computery skill! So I'll take the small win.
