So, what do you Whovians out there think of the big reveal from Sunday about the next Doctor?

I was disappointed at first, because it wasn't who I wanted it to be, but now I'm hoping a big change and new showrunner will be a good thing. It's never been my favourite show, but I used to like it more... as much as someone can like it when they're a big wimp and don't like complicated

I was a fan of the old show up until the 6th doctor (who just put me off...) but put off watching New Who for years. Once I started with Eccleston, I just kept going. Do I love all the episodes? No. Do I love all the companions? Way, no... But over all, this show has brought me a lot of pleasure over the last 35 years, and I plan to keep enjoying it.

I think we pretty much feel the same way, except that I started with New Who Bits I love, bits I hate, but overall I apparently like it enough to still be watching! It's a weird show for me. I put off watching each episode, but then when I finally get around to it I do (mostly) enjoy it. I should really binge it instead of watching regularly

I have no objections initially. Have to see how it goes. They said when they hired Grimaldi to be the last doctor they might go this direction when his run was over... just a matter of WHO (hahaha)

Oof Grimaldi I think that was part of my problem with him, he was a bit too serious for me. There's a reason "wibbly wobbly timey wimey" was such a great line, a show like this needs humour. (Or I do, anyway ) I also had trouble understanding him, to the point that I had to look up his lines from when he first showed up...

I liked Peter Capaldi's doctor, I think he did well with the scripts he was given.
Jodie Whittaker is an excellent actor and I'm looking forward to the next series especially since they have a new head writer.
I agree, the sixth doctor put me off classic Who as well.

Oh, good lord, yes. I think I watched a whole two episodes with #6. He was cruel, annoyingly smug, and his clothing made my eyes hurt.

Exactly how I felt about him

I gave up on the show towards the end of the 9th season. There were too many episodes where my eyes were glancing at the clock and asking, "Are we there yet?" Similar to the original Star Trek's third season in that regard. There were also times where I was wondering who the lead character was - the Doctor or Mary Sue Clara.
One thing we can all agree on, though - the Sixth Doctor was by far the worst.

Wasn't the 12th Doctor annoying at times as well though? Or was it mainly the 6th? I've really only ever watched New Who.

Twelve had his moments, but Six took the cake. He actually tried to kill his companion...

What? I missed that one! 12... Peter Grimaldi's Who? Yeah, I didn't watch as much of that one...

Yeah, he tried to strangle Peri during his debut story. The Doctor's had many post-regeneration hangovers, but Six's was a doozy. What made it even more bonkers was that Five had sacrificed himself to save Peri's life.
I liked Peter Capaldi's Doctor, but not the stories. A good actor who was let down by bad scripts.

That was the beginning of my issues with 6... I thought Capaldi's last season was his best. That, however, could be because I wasn't a fan of Clara.
