So I went to an Asian market, bought some glutinous rice and cooked it pretty much like regular rice. Soaked it for half an hour, two cups water with one cup of rice, then brought it to a boil, turned it down, put a lid on it and let it cook for ten minutes. It hadn't absorbed all the water so I gave it five more minutes.
They say you're supposed to steam it, not cook it the way I did.
I'm not sure I've even eaten it before. It may have come out TOO sticky. Anybody ever cooked this stuff?

Okay, I figured it out. You'll be happy to know I put some cheesecloth in the bottom of the steamer to keep the rice from falling through, steamed it ten minutes, turned the rice over and steamed it another ten minutes. Wasn't quite done so I steamed it some more. Now I'm enjoying a lovely breakfast of potstickers and sticky rice.

Sounds yummy! I have done sticky rice, but I tried making congee for the first time a few weeks back. It was delicious.

I love to eat rice but I hated cooking it because it was always sticky or overcooked or undercooked. Then last year my mom gave me a rice steamer she saw on HSN or QVC or one of those shows - holy cow!! Doesn't matter what kind of rice I use, I just follow the instructions that came with the steamer, lock the lid on, put it on "Cook" and walk away. The rice ALWAYS comes out PERFECT! You don't have to time it, the cooker does it automatically. And when it's done cooking, it automatically switches to "Warm", so if you forget you put it on (as I have been known to do) it doesn't, burn or dry out or come out in one big rice clump. I love it!!

I have one of those [received it as a gift] rice cookers, and I've never gotten ANYTHING to come out edible in it, and I do follow the instructions! My niece-by-marriage also has one, and she said the same thing. We both went back to using Minute Rice. She did find it was nice to keep corn on the cob hot, though, so used it on the Fourth of July. Personally, I've never found anything good I can do with it.

I never tried congee. I had been eating a lot of ramen but I read about it and realized it was slowly murdering me. 117-year-old Ōkawa Misao ate ramen daily but she obviously wasn't typical. So I switched to rice.
I tried minute rice long ago. Didn't like it at all. I never had a problem cooking rice, but if a rice cooker could steam this sticky rice it would be really nice. Using the steamer on the stove is awful.

I would eat ramen every day if I didn't care about things like my clothes fitting and blood pressure and stuff.
My son and I usually eat Jasmine rice, but Minute Rice is my go-to for my former MIL's Italian Thanksgiving stuffing. Rice, hamburger, egg, and as much grated Romano cheese as you can stand. (I can stand a lot...) So good, but if you use regular rice, it clumps and tastes like cardboard. I may need to bake a chicken next week just so I can stuff it with this.

My only other rice thing is that for years I've been looking at those boxes of Rice-a-Roni at the store. I read the directions on the box and it seemed like a lot of work, but I finally bought some after thinking about it off and on for about thirty years. I cooked it, ate some of it. Didn't like it and threw it away.

I don't try to make my own rice... I only like Spanish rice and fried rice .
