Saw this week with my little one. We both enjoyed it. If you were young in the 80s it is especially fun as the villain is supposed to be a former early 80s child star whose show was canceled when he went through puberty early. He loves playing clips of 80s movies and there are a lot of 80s references that are just fine for us older folk. I was trying to tell the 9yo about the songs in the movie (from Madonna, Michael Jackson, Berlin, Dire Straits, etc.) were from the 80s and he was like... "They're real songs?" I immediately came home and looked up some YouTube music videos to show him. 
I really like the Despicable Me series as a whole -- all 3 movies.
