After nearly a week of gastrointestinal flu accompanied by a torn-up bottom lip and scraped face [fell and hit my face on the bathroom counter when I was sick], I'm finally, TONIGHT, feeling almost human again. Aside from the lip, which is still very swollen and sore. Thank goodness for husband and sons, who pitched in like troupers [and my husband had the flu FIRST, coming down about 36 hours before I did], and cleaned, scrubbed, and set tables with the good china and silver, [or arrived from out of town and started in cooking and baking for two days straight!] and shopped for all the gifts I wasn't able to, we managed to host 19 people for the usual extended-family Christmas dinner yesterday. Today we just sort of recuperated! Glad you're feeling better, JD. Or, at least, starting to! OUCH! That must've been a nasty fall. I'm glad, though, that you were able to celebrate Christmas with your family! I owe you an email, my friend, now that I can actually type and not peck! You just keep recuperating!

OWWW JD! I'm glad you're feeling better! And kudos to your husband and sons for stepping up! I'm back at work for a 2-day work week. Christmas Eve and day were both quiet with just me and my two younger girls. Christmas Day we never got out of our jammies! We actually had our Christmas with my parents, brothers and Anita's family yesterday. Earlier in the day, Anita, Aaron and I were at my ex's Uncle's funeral. He passed on the 22nd, and at the same time - in the same hospital and on the same floor - my ex's wife gave birth to her third (his sixth) child. A little boy named Luke. He was over 4 weeks early and needed to stay in the NICU for a couple days. He ended up going home on Christmas day and I even got to hold him for a while after the funeral. Something about those teeny-tiny babies...

JD
I hope you continue to rest and relax. I know we have ben in touch, but I am still thinking of you. It's great that the boys (and the hubby) helped out and I am sure that everyone appreciated things even more given what you were going through.

After-holiday laundry is sort of staggering in its immensity, isn't it?

Ugh, JD, that sounds awful.
I discovered an instant migraine cure that I am insanely excited about. I've had bad migraines for the last 18 years--they started in middle school-and the only thing that really works for me is a super strict diet of no food additives (MSG is the main trigger) and an essential oil blend. That combo gets them so they're bearable when they do hit.
Well, a few weeks ago I was looking up videos on YouTube for acupuncture for migraine, since that works well for me also, and discovered one where someone was saying that brainfreeze works.
I ended up with a migraine on Christmas. After 6 hours of misery I finally remembered that, and had a bowl of safe ice cream. The headache was COMPLETELY GONE instantly. A friend of mine who also gets bad food migraines had one on Christmas too, and it got rid of hers as well and as fast.
Today I started to get a migraine at work but I had stashed frozen fruit at the office just for this. Got some and thawed it just slightly.
Brainfreeze works on the migraine auras, too! I can see to input data at reception again, and I don't have a headache, either!
:happydance

I'm even more happy to hear how well everything went for you. ::hugs:: (glad you're doing better finally!)

Taking down Christmas decorations. That was my plan too. But... I ended up taking my kitty to the vet and cleaning house.

I'm staying out of the snow! That's what I'm doing.
Of course I was out in it yesterday - but now I've received a 'winter storm warning'... so we must be getting a site more snow!

Doc decided I need to do allergy testing. Not complaining there, I've been trying to control hives since October. Trouble is they've banned all, and I do mean all, antihistamines for two weeks. Turmeric, green tea, herbal supplements with quercetin and stinging nettle and everything else herbal, Benadryl, it's *all* banned. Trying to cope with an all over dull itch for four more days.
Yes, I called the doc this week because I had a hives attack yesterday I had to just wait out. About all I can do is an oatmeal bath and a whole lot of knitting to keep from scratching my skin off. I'm drinking a ton of licorice and ginger tea and hoping that won't skew the test. I've got about three projects going for depending on how badly I need to concentrate on something other than the itching.
Just give me the migraine. In a day that's over with. *cry*

How to get rid of hives or constant itching if the doc has banned Benadryl:
2 tablespoons baking soda dissolved in a pint (2 cups) warm water (or probably a quarter of a cup of the soda in a bathtub as an Epsom salt substitute...?). Use it as a body wash in the shower after using soap.
It's BRILLIANT. I was on day 4 of violent itching when I found that.
No hives or itching AT ALL for 2 whole days since starting to use this stuff. What a relief, I was getting rather crabby dealing with the constant itching. I find out in less than 24 hours what's causing the hives so that's the silver lining in all this other than not having to deal with it at work.

I had an eye doctor appointment today. 1) I have a bit of an astigmatism. 2) I may have glaucoma in my left eye!

The worse my astigmatism gets, the better my distance vision gets! The optometrist says it’s technically stretching my lens in the opposite direction and therefore one is correcting the other.

I need to take one of my cats to the vet which reminds me that I should also be making an doctor appointment for me. A friend has suggested that since ingesting a certain substance makes my mouth go numb, I should probably talk to him about arranging allergy testing.

I've had the same experience with eating almonds where my tongue goes numb. I've been avoiding almonds and my regular doctor prescribed an Epipen in case I have an emergency.

Today I plan to do nothing. I don’t think that will work. But I plan to relax and watch the last season of Longmire on Netflix. And maybe do some laundry lol. Last week was a crazy one work wise for me between people calling in sick and doing inventory at the last minute. I get two days off and I’m excited!

Today was mostly work, which most of my days are! Such is the life of a Sales Manager 😊 I was busy planning a training meeting I’m conducting tomorrow. Yesterday was fun - I was running our promotions booth at a wedding show! Got to watch the fashion shows, and sample cupcakes... 😉

Back to work after a lovely few days in Florida. Epcot is much more fun than answering questions about tax forms...

There is a fairly spectacular fire at the far end of our street. A used car dealership and garage is burning, the entire neighbourhood reeks from the burning chemicals and cars. I'm thinking of the firemen dealing with it, at least it's only -6C right now.
