Job interview this afternoon. I have no idea what to do since I know I'll be out of a job in September.
Edit: scratch that. Third migraine in a week, so I called it a day at work and am hoping the weekend is kinder. :/

They're total cuties, Joyce. Can't believe Jude is so big now - last picture I saw, he was a baby!

Started the day at 9:00 am at agility/advanced obedience class with Deuce. Several new people came with PUPPIES!!! They were so stinkin' CUTE!! And no, it does NOT want to make me get another puppy! There is a pit bull puppy that has been coming for a few months now. He's getting really good at obedience and he will sit, down and stay but when ANYONE says "Come!" to call their dog, or gives the hand signal for "Come", he runs right to them - all except his MOM!!! He runs right by her and goes straight to whomever else is saying "Come". LOL! After agility class, went to Costco, then IHOP to pick up breakfast, then to my parents to eat breakfast with them, then home, picked up all the sticks and branches in the yard from the two major thunderstorms last week, mowed the lawn, caught Stitch, the black lab/Shepherd mix puppy that lives two houses up the street when he got loose, trimmed the bushes (can you tell this is the first really nice day we've had in over a month? ), did the laundry... taking a break now before I make my lunches for the week and do the dishes.

I am enjoying the nice weather-- Alaina and I are experiencing gorgeous weather after a miserable weather month. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be 80-85 and sunny. Yay!!! And I am trying to plan a small vacation somewhere on the east coast this summer, so I am looking at everyone's tours for ideas.

We like to jump in the car on weekends & just drive wherever the spirit takes us... turn here, what's down this road? etc. Today we went for a drive in the country area north of here. Visited the first garage sales of the year. Stopped at a little thrift store in a tiny town. They were having a sale - fill a bag of clothes for $5. I managed to snag an Isaac Mizrahi spring coat and a Jones New York silk blazer, plus 7 other pieces for that bargain!

If anyone has been to Niagra Falls and has some suggestions about what to do, I'd love to hear them!

If anyone has been to Niagra Falls and has some suggestions about what to do, I'd love to hear them! More than a decade ago, hubby and I visited the Falls (we traveled across Canada from Michigan and never went back in the US until we returned to Michigan). We did a jetboat tour that went from downriver up to the Whirlpool. I don't know if it was this particular company or another one, but we did do the ENCLOSED one since it was September when we did it and the water was cold. Loved it and highly recommend it.
And you HAVE to do the Maid of the Mist tour! Unforgettable!
Have fun!!

My daughter Anita has decided to sell Young Living Essential Oils. She's researched oils and their effects for years and chose this company because of their high standards. Today she had a "make and take" where people can use oils to make lip balm, household cleaner, deodorizer, facial sugar scrub and such. I'm hoping that their "stress relief" will be helpful for my daughter Mary (she had panic attacks).

If anyone has been to Niagra Falls and has some suggestions about what to do, I'd love to hear them! I'm only about three hours from there depending on traffic. Letchworth State Park isn't too far (where Mary Jemison is buried) if you have time for a day trip. Lucille Ball's hometown, Jamestown, is about two or three hours south of the Falls. Definitely check out Lucy Fest and Chautauqua Instituition if you get a chance!

I'm pretty sure Austin's been there -- and probably Sal. If we're talking about the Canadian side, I have been a lot. The Maid of the Mist is a must. You can walk behind the falls, too. Try to do it on a nice day. You're going to get wet. But it's a great way to experience the real power of the falls. There's a Virtual experience, too, that's fun. You can get a little wet there, too. Be sure to buy some fudge when you're in the shops at the Falls! Just up the hill from the falls is Clifton Hill. It's kitschy and tacky, but in a fun way. There's a Madame Toussaud's, a Ripley's museum, haunted mansions, arcades and scads of souvenir shops where you can find the most bizarre things. There's also a Ferris wheel for a birds' eye view of Niagara, the Skylon tower, cable cars, a people mover bridge/lift type thing, carriage rides, and sky diving simulators. For a little more adult fun there's Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara. You're also in the internationally acclaimed Niagara Wine region. There are dozens and dozens of wineries and little cottage wineries to visit and sample. Just down the Niagara Parkway you'll find the Butterfly Museum and Niagara Botanical Gardens. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but you'll never be bored!

These are all great suggestions-- thank you so much. I will look into them all. We are getting passports for everyone now to go to the Canadian side, so that should be great!
Joyce, I hope Anita is successful. I've heard good things about essential oils. Some people swear by them!

Cooking! Tonight is the first night of Passover, and I have 8 people coming over. Chicken soup is bubbling away on the stove, matzo candy buttercrunch is cooling on the dining room table, and now I'm onto asparagus prep and charoset. Then I have to convince the fuzzy creatures to vacate the furniture so I can wash the blankets I keep on them to mitigate the amount of fur that accumulates.
Whew. T -7 hours until people...

Got burned not once but twice by the same person on the same project for work in the last month, so fun times ahead with trying to work with the new reality and trying not to let it get under my skin too much. Sigh.
On to tackling a landscape study for said project. That will be interesting and a lot of fun, I think!

Mine's a little odd as I don't drink and can't stand walnuts. (I think they taste like my braces used to...) I use slivered almonds and white grape juice. Over the years I have experimented with apples and really like Pink Lady apples with the almonds. And honey from my local apiary!
On the downside, the efficiency with with I have been accomplishing the cooking has been balanced by the F-21 error code (apparently slow draining -- thanks internet!) on my washing machine. I can't get to the stupid, little screws under the plate to access the drain and don't have time to deal with it right now anyway. Sigh.
On the upside, my house smells great!

I haven't been to Niagara Falls for a few years (or a decade) but I remember going down in the tunnels behind the falls and the butterfly museum was great too. I spent this past weekend in Fargo at an SCA event. I had to get a bit creative with my away request for work - I didn't think my supervisor would be all that impressed with I need to swear fealty to the new King and Queen as a reason for being absent.

Practicing a lecture for tomorrow. My business advisor was wondering when I would realise I didn't need the transcript crutch. So grateful I have a fantastic support group.
But I'm also trying very hard not to freak out about it as in two weeks I'm doing a podcast about the project (one of the first in the entire state) with an international archaeology blog (the guy is off in Norway right now at a dig). Friday was a big panic moment and I'm none too keen on repeating that.
